Fuel tank pickup

I need to pull the fuel pickup out of the tank. The pickup has threads that start above the tank and run into the tank. The pickup has a nut on it at the fuel tank. I can get the nut loose but can't break the pickup loose. Any ideas on getting the pickup out of the tank.

Plastic tank? Best to post a picture or two. Some pickup fittings are pressed into the tank.
