Does it re-start right away when this happens and will it run good below 5000 RPM's? Slow would have nothing to do with it shutting down completly. It would just drop back to 2500 or so RPM's..

Be ready when it starts to die and have someone pump the fuel bulb and see if it picks up again. If so its probably the fuel pump. You might also check the vent system on your fuel tank.

Do you have an fuel restrict alarm mounted on that engine?

The VRO is a fuel pump, it also injects the oil but it is the fuel pump. Sounds like you need to fix it. I don't know on that particular engine whether it is better/cheaper to rebuild one or buy them new, someone on this board will tell you.

I'm going back to the primer bulb going soft.

If that is happening at the 5000 RPM range, then you may still have a problem there.

Maybe sludge in the filter, air leak or clogged pickup in the tank. Possibly your tank vent isn't adequate.

I can't think of another reason for you to have to re-prime.

well it runs like a champ at 2200 rps tho, dont
fuel pumps just quit most of the time? i think
ill theck the vent first.and if i can check the pick up line in the tank.i guess if the vent is clear, and the pick up is clean must be the pump
anything else you can think of,lay it on me
thanks LTDan out

Try to connect the fuel hose to a portable fuel tank. and see if that helps.

Fuel pumps on an outboard have flexible diaphragms. Usually these diaphragms get a small hole initially in them. As the hole becomes larger more air gets in or less fuel gets pumped. If pumping your bulb helps the engine there is something wrong with your fuel pump.

To check the vent problem: while running you can open your fuel filler cap and if the helps it is definently your vent line. If that does not help it could be your fuel pickup or there is debris in the tank. I had the same problem on my boat.

Could also be the anti-syphon valve at the top of the tank pick-up assembly. Take the fuel line loose at the engine and pump the bulb. That will tell you if you have a restiction from the motor to the tank if fuel does not come out.
