Hello I have a 1999 Johnson 150 Ocean Runner. Ive had it about 4 years now, has usually ran very good. I replaced the fuiel tank just over a year ago, I have top quality fuel hose from Shields. originally I had an in line filter PLUS the water seperator . last year i removed the inline filter. earlier this year i checked the white filter on the front of the fuel pump. it was clean..... once...in a while at 4000-5000 rpm the fuel restriction (check engine) like would alarm.... and if I backed down the throttle it always went away. Yesterday I was going off when ever I tried to run over 2000 rpm. I could run it up to 3000 and within 20 seconds the alarm would sound.. motor sounded fine... water temps were fine...but id back down the rpm to remove the red light( the alarm only sounds for about 10 seconds). SO, my question is ..IS THIS A SIGN, my fuel pump is getting weak ???? I have it blocked off and use premix oil-gas fuel. The fuel tank is 15 feet away from the motor. I dont know if that distance makes the pump work hard.... Thankls in advance

the vent is clear it is a 3/8" id hose. I checked it last year when I was getting this alarm around 4000 rpm....I thought maybe a bug had made a nest in the end of the hose.. which just was snaked into the inside wall of the side of the boat. I will check the anti siphon valve...I think it was a used unit when i installed it 3 years ago!

you will need to hook up a low-pressure guage in the fuel line after the OMS pump to see what PSI it's got. Its in the manual... the steps to check it and specs for that motor's fuel pressure. also make sure the switch at the motor and on controls isn't shorting out anywhere.
