Is it a bad idea to install an electric low pressure fuel pump on a 1988 90 HP Evinrude?
Kind regards, Bob Gilchrist

If you still have the VRO and want to remove it , the best solution is a fuel pump off an 88 HP V-4.-----It mounts directly over the PRESSURE port on intake manifold.

Agreed
Electric pull pumps on boats are nothing but a fire hazard.

thanks for the responses, I will get a new manifold and mechanical fuel pump. I’ve replaced everything on this boat except for the rivers in the hill of this old17 foot deep-V Sylvan:)

The spot to mount the regular , simple pump is already there on your motor !!

The reason I need a new manifold is because I’m removing the VRO pump and the current manifold hose connections are pointed in the wrong direction. The manifold I need the hose connections are perpendicular to the upright tube and the feed for the primer pump is at the top.

A new manifold will not be different from what you have !!!!!------I am not sure what you are doing / attempting here.----You do not need a new manifold.------Why make it difficult !!!

Perhaps if you were looking at this engine; which is a 1988 90 HP with VRO AND fuel pump you would understand why I need to change the manifold. There is a metal slot in the engine for the manifold to rest in which requires me to acquire the manifold to rest in correctly. Thank you for your concern seriously. Bob Gilchrist

I have more than one of these V-4 blocks kicking around.-----Yes the fuel manifold and hoses need some re-arranging.-----And the electric primer is a VALVE it is not a pump.-------Good luck with it.

Maybe buy a factory manual to help you with your motor, your lack of knowledge is not helping you..

I’m not working on a motor. I’m working on an Engine. How did we get to this point when I had simply asked “is it a bad idea to install an electric fuel pump?” With this new information network ( internet ) I can find all of the information needed.

I thank you for your help, but your sarcastic innuendos are not appreciated. And I am not pretending nor do I think myself to be smarter than anyone; was just seeking advice from like minded individuals.

I know, I know Your motor is more special than the other millions of them out there. Everything is different on your one motor so it requires a redesign, I get it.
