Fuel pump swap

Hi everyone:
I have an Evinrude 1990 50 hp ve50belesr outboard. It ran fine last year. I started it up and it ran for awhile then stalled. It hasn't started since. I changed fuel, changed the fuel filter and checked the plugs. I has good spark but no gas. I have rebuilt both carb's. I am still not getting any fuel to the carb's. The existing fuel pump is a vro pump. I had problems with the vro and am not using it. I haven't used it for a few years. I currently mix my gas and oil. Is it possible to change the fuel pump from a vro to a normal pump? I can't afford a new vro pump. If the change is possible, will it cost much and is it difficult? I really need your help. Thank you! :)

Re: Fuel pump swap

Sure, if you are sure the fuel pump is bad, go on the maxrules web site and see what replacement they recommend. They have rebuild kits as well, for your current pump.

Re: Fuel pump swap

Thank you. I have no idea if it is bad. I am not getting any fuel into the carb's. The fuel pump is the only thing that I can think of.

Re: Fuel pump swap

Inlet needle in vapor seperator could be stuck. Fuel filter clogged? Can you use fuel primer to put fuel into carbs? If not, rebuilding the fuel pump will not help.
