I'm new to this forum so please bear with me.
I have a 1998 Evenrude 3 cyl, 60 HP. I have a fuel problem. It won't start but when squirting starting fluid into the carb, it fires and will continue to run with starting fluid. I have fuel past the fuel filter. All hoses (including the crankcase) are on snug.
I therefore assume a bad fuel pump which is a "VRO" Cost of a new pump is $398. I understand there are kits for around $50 to rebuild the fuel pump but all my local dealers want to sell me a new pump.
Questions:
l. Is my diagnosis of a bad pump correct?
2. Should I rebuild the pump?
3. Where do I get a kit (anyone have a part #)?
Thanks,
Don
