I have a 96 CrownLine 5.7LX EFI Bravo One, Serial #795033. I believe there are 2 pumps on this a mechanical and an electric pump, the boat will idle fine and run at full throttle anything in between the engine dies I changed the throttle position sensor, map sensor, iac valve and the engine is still doing the same thing, I cleaned the check valve on top of the tank, and even changed the fuel line, when I pulled the fuel line off the mechanical hardly and fuel came out of the line, could the mechanical pump be bad, I did this twice and very little fuel came out of the line. any help would be great.

Thanks
Rod

Check your serial number, there should be a 0 and a letter before the 795033. Something like 0A795033, only it won't be an A

Have you had it hooked up to a diagnostic computer? Not just for codes, but to see what is going on while running.

You really have to do some troubleshooting to find what is wrong, not just peoples ideas.
Have you checked fuel filters for water? Checked fuel pressures? Compression checks, ignition system checks, diagnostic scan tool checks.
Those are all the things a shop would have to do to find the problem, random checks of "ideas" usually takes a heck of a lot longer to find the problem (if you do find it) than using the manual and the tools needed to systematically troubleshoot the system.

Here is a link to the manual for your engine. http://boatinfo.no/lib/mercruiser/manuals/mercruiser17.html#/0

i have changed the filter no water was present, is there more the 1 filter, I only have 218hrs on the boat and it is well maintained, i change the filters every year no mater how much I use the boat which isn't very often as you can tell by the hours on it, i'm sure i will take it to the shop, just trying to save some cash.

Re: Fuel Pump NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!

Don't get me wrong, but there is a lot more to maintenance on an engine than changing a couple filters. When was the last full tuneup? How old is the gas? Does the gas get stabilizer in it over the winter? With only 218 hrs, it does a lot of sitting, and that is worse on an engine than running.
It's EFI, just like in cars, you have to have the tools to check them out.

Re: Fuel Pump NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!

no worries, i tune it up every 2 years if it needs it or not, I do all the mechanical work on most of my stuff so i have the tools, but its a pain to work on the boat so I have that done by the pros, its due for a tune up next year, i put sabilizer in the fuel and when i fill it up i add sea foam, so i guess I will wait till then, thanks for the help.
