I'm back! Does anyone know of a source for simple maintainence parts? Examples: fuel pump gaskets, points, rotors, caps, plug wires, and things of that nature? We know hard internal parts for a 40+ year enigine is asking for too much. ;)

Johnson didnt have a 75 till 60.
Twincities outboards at www.tcoutboard.com
is a good place to start.
NAPA auto parts lists impellers,points,fuel
pump kits and a few internal parts.
Cap and rotor will be tough to find new,
plug wires you can make up using bulk wire from
NAPA. They have a 600+ page Marine products catalog, but some branches dont have a clue about it.Dont forget that manual.

Re: Fuel pump gasket 59 Johnson 75 hp

Thank you both, Steelespike and Rwise.
This older lawnmower type product mentality seems to be as simple to work on as my 1959 and 1960 Ford F350's. Lot's of room to work and very reliable once you work the bugs out.
For the few times that we have had it in the water, even if it was stuck in reverse (which happened once), this boat has been nothing but fun for us. When it's running right! :D Now its time to follow the trail of maintenence that was neglected for years by it's previous owners. Luckily, they had it stored in a garage for 15+ years once their kids grew up and moved away.
Thanks again everybody!!

Patty
If your engine has the belt drive distributor, like my 50hp 1958, the bearings may need to be lubed. I pulled mine apart just to clean it and found the bearings dry. Just a thought!
Richard

We closed the dealership but still have many new parts and service literature for these older engines. Please include model number and parts needed with request. Email: linda@nu-z.net
