Fuel Pump Evinrude 90 hp

1987 Evinrude 90 HP - I need to pump the fuel primer bulb to keep the engine running. Can someone tell me how the fuel pump is employed when the engine is running? For instance does it operate with air pressure. I have pulled one of the fuel lines off and was getting no gas... until I pump the primer bulb.

The fuel pump is operated by pressure pulses from the engine. It's possible you have a bad diaphragm in the fuel pump, or else a serious air leak somewhere in your fuel system. Fuel pump rebuild kits are pretty inexpensive, and not too difficult.
