Fuel not getting to bulb from internal tank

I am having trouble getting fuel from the boats tank to the bulb. This is what I tried so far: I filled the tank, checked by turning the ignition and it registered full. Disconnected the bulb from the engine to eliminate the engine. Pumped the ball and nothing. Disconnected ball from my water separator and plugged the bulb into the hose going back to the tank to eliminate the water separator. Removed the check valve fitting as well as the draw tube with the screen on it. The check valve works as well as the screen being clean. Replaced all hoses as I went. Only things not replaced are the sending unit, which is working fine, the gas cap, the fitting behind the gas cap and the two hoses attached to it. Any other suggestions or advice

Welcome aboard.

New bulb/hose? Are the arrows on the bulb pointing to the motor or the tank? Should point to the motor. Sending unit won't cause this.

Or how about a dirty tank inlet screen in the tank, maybe varnished up from boat sitting ilde for long periods of time with no fuel stabilizer ("Snake Oil"). Pull your float mounting plate and have a look down in there.

There are only three possibilities for your situation. First, the primer bulb is installed in the wrong direction. The arrows on the bulb needs to be pointing towards the inlet on the engine. Second, the fuel lines in the tank are plugged or the line itself is cracked and not pumping any fuel but merely air, and third, the vent on the tank is totally plugged up and not allowing any fuel to be pumped out because no air can get in... JMHO!

Hold the bulb vertical when pumping.
Funny I have been squeezing bulbs for over half a century. On my last bulb replacement with a Quicksilver OEM, I don't remember where I saw it, on the container or accidentally in the SM but it said to do just that. Never looked at a check valve, but it may be necessary for some to seat properly.

What gm280 posted. the bulb is really only used to fill the carb with fuel to start. once started you should really never have to pump ever if do not disconnect the lines. Or have leak somewhere

Thanks everyone. Bulb is new and arrow is pointing toward engine. I removed the check valve on the tank and the check is not stuck. I removed the draw piece; not sure of exact name) that pulls gas from tank to engine. The screen on bottom of this tube was clear. I blew thru it and air passed thru. Replaced all hoses from check valve to engine. I checked to make sure all connections were tight. Gauge says tank is full. Having someone look at it this weekend. Will let everyone know what he finds.

Not sure what the actual problem was but after removing the check valve and the draw tube from the fuel tank, I must have shaken it loose. All is good and I am in the water. Surmise it was a stuck check valve. Thanks for everyone's help.

Run some Sea Foam in your gas and it'll clean out the varnish and add some lube and you shouldn't have the problem again. Course if you are using a standard squeeze bulb, it has a built in check valve and one's enough in my book. They operate on differential pressure and 2 can get tangled up with each other.
