Fuel Mix

I have a 1988 25 horsepower Evinrude and their is a sticker near the fuel connection that says 100/1 fuel mix.Is this correct ? I ran 50/1 in the motor and it seems ok but smokes alot and have a cylinder cutting in and out.Using Quick Silver Premium oil.

50/1 is the correct mixture. That 100/1 was a disasterous jump for OMC that rsulted in many blown powerheads.

first is this elect start or recoil? assuming electric, take an induction timing light withyou next out. connect light to battery, when it starts to miss connect to plug wire and check which one is cutting out watch the flash of the light. then post findings

Thanks for the info on the fuel mix. And this engine is recoil start only no electric start.

take a battery with you for the timing light.
