i also meant to ask what the fuel mix is for my 1971 Evinrude 6hp fisherman. i think it is 25:1?? maybe 24:1??<br /><br />thanks<br />robarchibald@hotmail.com

50 to one with todays modern oils. No reason to bog it down with the much oil. <br /><br /> You can also run 100:1 with amsoil 100:1 TCW3, great stuff and it does not foul the spark plugs.

like I said.... <br /><br /><br />But honestly everyone should try the amsoil 100:1 stuff, I run it 100:1 in a chainsaw designed for 16:1 and I have never had any problems. Amsoil will also pay for any damages ( i don't know if they do it anymore?)

If Sloopy will personally give me a "Replacement Guarantee," no, make that a $3000 bond, I will be more than happy to run Scamsoil 100:1 this summer in my 120

Sorry OBJ, but I won't stop until you TRY the amsoil 100:1 TCW3. Then I promise I will stop, I just want you to see how awesomely good it is.<br /><br /><br />FYI. It is called 100:1 amsoil two stroke synthetic or something like that, and it even mentions tcw3 on the label. BUT it is not tcw3 approved. If you (not you obj) really want to be so 2003 go ahead and use a tcw3 approved oil (50:1), any tcw3 will work, I like the walmart stuff because of the price and the fact that it is made by Pennzoil.

I believe amsoil does do something like this. BTW I have yet to burn up an engine . Hell, I ran my little sailmaster evinrude two hours without oil one time and it ran for many more hours after that until it fell in the lake....

I would particularly avoid 100:1 on that engine as it doesn't have a full complement of roller bearings. Even 50:1 (the manufacturer's recommended mix) is sort of pushing it. It has nothing to do with how good the oil is, just that plain bearings need a good oil layer to function properly. <br />It isn't as bad as the 4hp as it does have roller bearings on the big end of the connecting rod, but the small rod end, middle and bottom main bearing are all babbitt. It also has proper crankcase seals at both ends.

You guys think too much about what could go wrong/bad. Try thinking on the positive
