Mine pump ball fuel line is stiff and appears to be brittle. what problems could this cause?
Also, I have an in line water/fuel filter, what maintenance does this require?

Re: fuel line, pump ball

I had a line disintegrate internally after 12 years. Was the Quicksilver issue orig. equip. Released little pieces of tan crud that got into the fuel pump and internal fuel filter. Made a big mess. Best to get a new line and Quicksilver bulb before you have to spend more money.

Is your water separator a spin on filter? If so, I'd imagine just get another and spin it on. I have no experience with marine applications, just over the road.

If the line and bulb are hard and brittle, replace it. Age does things to things and people.
Not knowing what type of separator you have one can only guess it has a spin on filter as was suggested. Get the number off of it and replace it.

Ayuh,... It needs to be changed annually, or at the 1st sign of water in yer fuel....

When takin' the old 1 off, dump it in a container, 'n inspect the contents for water, 'n crud...

'n if yer fuel line is brittle, get a new 1...
