Fuel line leak

I took my boat out last weekend and i think it may have a leak in the fuel line. When i ran it at high speed the primer bulb would collapse and the engine would cut out. I also noticed that when i was priming the motor before we were getting ready to go the primer bulb didnt have any pressure in it. I could just keep squeezing it and it would never harden up. Any ideas as to what this might be. I figured it was a leak in the fuel line but im no expert. Does it sound like it could be anything mor difficult than changing the fuel lines? Any advice would be very helpul.

Thank you

Re: Fuel line leak

Sounds like your gas tank vent is plugged. One way to check is to take the boat out, loosen the gas cap and run it. (just be careful not to get any water in your tank while you are running.). If that solves it , you have to follow your vent hose from the tank to the vent and clean it out. If that doesnt solve it I would check the pickup tube and anti siphon valve (which is located in the gas tank) for crud/ blockage. Good luck.

Re: Fuel line leak

there is a restriction somewhere between the primer bulb and the fuel tank.
It could be in the bulb itself, line, connection, anti siphon valve , pick up tube, or the tank vent

Also, do not overlook the finger filter that is often installed in the pickup tube. Is a cone shaped metal screen just before the anti siphon valve. You have to push it out with a wire from the bottom of the tube. I never reinstall them. FRED
