Fuel issues at higher RPM's

I have a 1973 25 HP Evinrude, pull start. This is my problem. When I am cruising at low rpm's, it runs fine. When I accelerate the engine to full throttle. I need to constantly squeeze my fuel line bulb. The engine runs but it stalls out until the fuel bulb is squeezed. If I have the boat in neutral and rev the motor, it runs fine without cutting out. I have replaced the fuel line and bulb, replaced all fuels lines around the motor and installed a new fuel pump.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Check your fuel tank. If you have an older steel tank there may be rust/corrosion blocking the pick up tube. We had a similar problem a few years back, only the tube actually split and it would not run well with less than 1/2 a tank.

Sounds like you have covered all the bases. Fuel pump, lines, etc. Possibly the gas tank outlet. Sometimes they leak and suck air around the little pins that get pushed in when you attach the hose connector.

Other than that, it leaves the carburetor. A hunk of crud obstructing the float valve opening, or a mis-adjusted float come to mind.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give those two items a try.

Thanks again for your help
