Some time ago I posted a thread about gas in my engine oil and overheating at high RPM's. Well, after changing impellers, thermostat, tightening hose clamps, checking risers, etc, the overheating at high RPM problem turned out to be a leak in the water intake in the lower unit. Unfortunately, I had to take it to the shop to figure that one out$$$$$$$
On another note, the shop could not find a problem with my carburator or the fuel pump regading the fuel in the oil problem. They gave it a tune up and changed the distributor cap and said give it a try. We lake tested it today and found it ran great up to about 4000 RPM's, then it began to bog down a bit (you could feel it and hear it). Reduce the RPM's and it runs great again. Did this for about thirty minutes, and once again we have fuel in the oil. We could smell it and the oil level rose about 1/4 to 1/2 quart.
Any ideas? About the only thing I can think to cause this would be a bad carburator? Other thoughts? Could bad fuel cause this?
