Fuel Flow Gauge

I would like to install a fuel flow gauge on my Chaparral for my twin 4.3L MPIs. The boat has the analog custom Chaparral gauges. I'm pretty sure the engines are smartcraft compatible. Is it possible to wire in a gauge that just reads fuel flow from the smartcraft system? I don't want to have to change out all the gauges.

I'm not sure if they can read from the smartcraft system, but you can install a single separate FloScan fuel GPH gauge and a sending unit from each engine. It is a mere flip of a toggle switch to read from each independant engine.

For a little more, you can get twin readings in a single gauge. Just check the website for correct application.

I looked into that but I'd rather not install extra equipment if the engines can read it natively.

Re: Fuel Flow Gauge

The only way for any gauge to know how much fuel was flowing would be to have something inline in the fuel line to signal the gauge how much gas was moving thru. Are there already flow sensors installed?

Re: Fuel Flow Gauge

According to Mercruisers website the engines are Smartcraft compatible and one of the smartcraft parameters is fuel flow so I believe the sensors are installed. I guess my question is can I have both analog and smartcraft gauges attached at the same time? and if so what smartcraft gauge do I need to display the fuel flow information?
