Looking at a Wellcraft 23' coastal with twin 150 Johnsons. 500 hours on the boat, all in nice shape. Problem is trying to figure out if this guy is going to pass everything but the gas pump. I will be using the boat in Lake Ontario for short hops to & fro with the kids to fishing spots. Not planning on running wide open but enough to plane off & have a comfortable & fuel efficient ride. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Fuel Consumption

That's plenty of power for that hull, and I would have no fear taking it 30 miles offshore in monsoon season,in the Gulf,as long as it is VHF equipped...But,you are right about fuel consumption. It will be ravinous!! I would roughly estimate 10 to 16 GPH,depending on throttle ,loading and trim.
This boat was designed for offshore fishing, within VHF radio range of the beach. They have a good high freeboard, and chop thru chop like a cat of the same size.
They are very popular down here in Florida.
Lots of old restored beauties from the 70's and 80's still doing sea duty.
I'm thinking about finding an older Welcraft hull to restore myself, and power it with a pair of Suzies. But only in my dream$$$$
