Fuel Connector Leak

When I coonect the fuel coupler, ahead of the bulb, in my 1989 Force 85 HP motor, fuel is leaking out as soon as I press the bulb. Yes, I have pulled the socket and let it snap in place. I have done this several times, and almost hear a soft 'click' that the coupler is snapping in place.
It was uncoupled by the marina, where I had the water pump impeller chaged last fall; it is the first time this season that I am trying to plug in the fuel line.

I am not familiar with this part at all as it has never given any problem. Is there an adjustment that I need to do? How do I fix it?

I just change the tank side on mine and its doing the same thing. Im thinking about changing it to a differant style all together.

Looking at the connector, I don't see a "o" ring. Does anyone know if there should be one in it?

I am thinking maybe it fell when the service person took it apart.

There should be an oring inside the female side. If we are talking about the same connector. (it looks like a small air hose connector?)

The female connector has an O-ring below the locking ball(s). It mates with the first flat surface of the male connector -- the one in front, ahead of the groove the locking ball(s) snap into

If this surface is worn, you need to replace the male fitting. If the O-ring is worn or missing, you need to reach in with a needle and pry it out. Standard O-rings are just a tad too large and will not fit into the groove. However, if you can find a GM air conditioning O-ring kit, They did sell a six pack that did fit.

Please note that there is another O-ring at the back of the male fitting. It supposedly seals the front of the female fitting. But, this ring is practically useless since if the primary seal leaks, gas will leak out through the balls. So if this O-ring is missing, don't bother replacing it.

I purchased a new male end and it didnt even come wiht the fron o-ring.
