I have a 1977 Glastron SSV 177 with a 140 Mercruiser ,does any one know if it has a fuel check valve in the line, seems to lose the prime on the fuel pump after sitting ,if it has ever had one I can`t find it and I have had the line off from the fuel pump to the tank. Thanks for any replies.

Re: Fuel check valve

Your carb fuel bowl could be draining slowly down the intake after a long period of non use, making it tough to start.

Re: Fuel check valve

If your pump looses it's prime, it's not because of anything other than the pump being bad. The check valve you may be referring to is an anti siphon valve and is not there to prevent fuel from leaking back into the tank. The fuel pump works because of check valves in the pump.
I doubt your pump is your problem, more like the carb as Eric mentions. It could be leaking internally, or the accelerator pump isn't working properly. Do you have a hesitation problem too?
