Fuel capacity

Just got my first boat, a 1987 Wellcraft 192 Classic, the fuel guage doesn't work and I cannot find out the fuel capacity. It has a Chevy V-6 with a OMC Cobra stern drive.

Did you look at the fuel tank where the sender is?

My Donzi has a built in aluminum tank and there is a placard by where the sender is. It says the capacity, manufacturer, and serial/model numbers.

the fuel tank needs to be uscg approved. to meet this spec. it will have a tag on it stating such. along with the capacity. it's usually located by the sender on the fuel tank itself.

short of that.

siphon all the fuel out and fill her up and note how much ya put back in....

I would also recommend repairing the fuel gauge

If you can get to the tank and measure it, do the math:

L x W x H = cubic inches
cubic inches divided by 231 = gallons of liquid

(i.e.) 24" x 24" x 24" = 13,824 cubic inches
13,824 / 321 = 59.84 gallons
