I have a 1996 Evinrude E225TXDED 225 V6. Runs great, idles great. When I shut if off fuel mix pools at the base of the motor where the Fuel line for vacuum pulse is located. I have replaced that hose but still pooling. Does not appear to be coming from Carbs. When I tilt the motor the mix runs out. Any thoughts? This is driving me crazy.

Float bowls can't stop the fuel so it dribbles out the carbs. Unplug the fuel lines when tilted.

How is getting to the base of the power head from the carbs ? What path could it take nothing else is wet at all .

When do you see the collection at the Base of the Powerhead? When it is tilted up, or when the motor fully down?

It is when I start tilting it up. It starts pooling at the base of the power head. If it is the floats I have rebuild kits for the carbs should that solve the problem?

you did not specify if this was sudden new problem or existing one on a new to to you engine...

a tilted carb is always subject to some dripping fuel due to the open air atmospheric air supply openning needed to supplement the void created by fuel being sucked out of the carb.

This probelm is new to this motor. I had the preivious owner look at it and he said he had never had the problem. See photo of the amount of oil coming out.

On a similar case on a modern ETEC still using old style concepts it was suggested that the side recirculation hose normally allowing any pooled fuel oil mix found in the lower gearcase to be sucked up and sent to the upper bearing and or drawn in for combustion may be at fault ....

the recirculation hose may be plugged up and tilting may allow this "accumulated" mix to ooze out

check your oil recirculation side hose(s) just in case of malfunction. small check valves may be defective or carcks developped at the barb (s)

see port side bottom recirculation check valves

I set some photos but they must be hung up in cyber space. I will try sending one photo as a PDF.

I have been trying to find a diagram of the fuel system hoses from the VRO to the Carbs but not having much luck.

just follow the hoses .. the recirc. hoses just go from side barbs to top barbs with a small check valve
