Hey all,
I'm trying to figure out how to wire switch(es) to be able to turn off bow speakers feed and go to stern speakers. Head unit is powered enough, so no amp needed. HU wiring is designed for 4 speakers only, and the pair midway back will be on all the time...just need to know what kind of switch and how to wire. An A/B type switch maybe?

Re: Front/back switch wiring

Welcome to iboats!

A DPDT (double pole, double throw) switch will do the job. The + feeds from the HU go to the center terminals, and the feeds to the speakers connect to the outer terminals. The - feeds are combined for their respective sides. Here's a drawing (replace "input" with HU output and "output" with speakers):

I would avoid switching the speakers with the HU powered up.

Thanks NYBo for quick response, just what I was looking for. So I can prolly get any passive DPDT rocker-type switch,
correct? Don't need 12v for lit switch.

All it takes is a negative wire to the switch on the extra terminal to light it. Might be a good look as well.

Get a water-resistant switch if it will be mounted in an exposed area.

The switch is for speakers; no 12V involved.
