from evinrude to mercury

need some help i have an old boat which was restored . i changed the motor from75 hp evinrude to 50hp merc. when i did this the boat had a box in back with relay and different wires that went to dash and control lights were all wired to this . merc control only has wires to battery and plugs into motor . motor is 1964 my question is how to get the lights on the boat to work has head lights also dash lights and some gauges. does this motor have charger for batt. thanks for any information i can get.jonnie e

On the newer boats ever thing is ran on a separate circuit, lights radio`s fog and search lights and so on, the motor is on its own with the gages and that depends on the motor and how it is set up with what things.

MH Hawker i thank for your answer , thats is what i thought might be the best thing to do but was not sure ,so i will try to get some things going here thanks again jonnie e
