I have a 1992 Sea Ray...
The 12 volt fridge works great on battery power. But as soon as I plug in the shorepower, the fridge stops working. I have no idea what to check or look for.

Any info would help.

Check your breaker panel first to make sure all breakers are on. If still no help, pull the accessory panel off of the front of the fridge and check the power inverter. If all is working, there may be an issue with the ECM for the unit, but that will usually result in a loss of cooling as well.

There must be a relay somewhere that kicks it into the 120 volt mode?

Not shure but on Camper fridges there is a seperate heating element for 120vac ,12vdc , and gas/propane . Or if it has 120 to 12 inverter there might be only the 12vdc one .

on the marine fridge there is no heating element, It has a conventional compressor.... If you want to see the components, you need to pull the fridge out.... There is a monster relay on the back and a transformer... The Quick fix would be to turn off the 110 breaker for the fridge or unplug it so that it runs on 12v all the time and your charger keeps the batts up while on shore power..... The correct fix would be to start trouble shooting the electronics on the back of the fridge which will require a bit of electrical know-how

Re: fridge power 12/120 volt

Most Marine reefers run on 12VDC through an adapter. Off the batt? Straight 12VDC. Shorepower? The adapter converts 120VAC to 12VDC. So my guess is the adapter on top of the fridge (or the back side) isn't putting out anymore. These are commonly called "Dual Voltage", but the voltage the reefer sees is still 12VDC...

Mine has a small compartment on the front, above the freezer and there is an inverter/converter behind it. However, I'm not sure if it's converting 12v to 120v or the other way around.
