Freezing temps causing motor problems??

I have a 2000 90hp Johnson. The temps in Mass. where I work on the water have been single digits @ night, teens during the day. Today the NO OIL light and buzzer came on. I checked the oil tank and it was half full. The primer ball on the oil line coming off the oil tank was very hard and could barely squeeze it?? As a precaution I premixed the oil and fuel. What are some things that the freezing temps could cause problems on with the VRO?? Should I just bypass the VRO if using the motor in freezing temps??

Re: Freezing temps causing motor problems??

welcome to iboats, premixing with the VRO will not hurt the motor, may foul plugs quicker, and smoke more. but when you break in a VRO motor you are suppose to premix also, to increase the lubrication, during break in.
