Could anyone tell me what or where this frayed cable I found on the back of my Volvo Penta DP-SM should be connected too?

Can you post another picture of it, this time back up a little so we can see the surrounding area of the drive.

Ayuh,... It appears to be a continuity strap,...
The attachment point will be a screw, within reach of it...

Here's another pic... it may be tough to see but it's right next to the little stick onthe ground in the pic...

Bond-o, what is the continuity strap for? Is that for the corrosion system?

It is for corrosion, the trim cylinder is not touching metal so it needs to be bonded to the rest of the drive.
The wire goes from the trim cylinder to the gimbal ring as I recall.

Thanks Don,
I'll check that out... do you think this will show up in my Seloc Manual? Do you have an OEM manual for the DP-SM? I see you've posted VP OEM manuals before so just checking... thanks.

I doubt it's in the Seloc, it's not even in the OEM. Just look on the gimbal ring. You should see a bolt head with the connector that the cable was on.

If I had any brains I would have looked at the other side of the outdrive.... the port side ground is still attached where it should be. yep, you both were right on... thanks for your help!
