Hello all;
I have 2 engines that I'd like to know what I can take from each other to create some sort of Frankenstein 2 stroke screamer.

Eng#1 1976 3cyl 75hp evinrude with power trim
-low compression in top cylinder

Eng#2 1988 3cyl 60hp johnson Without power trim
-runs but needs carbs rebuilt

What can I make out of these 2 outboards?
I know it'll never be a mercury R motor but I wouldn't mind a nicer sound, more rpms and more power to move my little 14ft bowrider

I know the pistons are the same, the carbs can be swapped. Just wondering about difference in heads, could i swap the 76 power head onto the 88 assembly?
Maybe smooth out the intake runners, carbon reeds, cdi electronics to raise the rev limiter and open up the exhaust above the propeller

Agreed----Notching the crankshaft is NONSENSE !!!-----But sticking some 2 barrel carburetors on the 3 cylinder loopers really wakes them up.

So a 6 pack basically on a 3cyl?
Where would I find the parts needed to do this?

These was offered years ago and hard to find. Second Effort may have offered it for a 3 cylinder, but the only kits I have seen in person was a Land & Sea was a 12 pack for a V-6. They also offered a kit for the 2 cylinder 50/60 HP for a 2 barrel mod. Why a "screamer" and what type of boat?

Well I got the boat and motor for free. It's a 14ft bowrider with a 60hp johnson.
I also got a free 75hp evinrude for doing some work on anther guys boat.
So I was just seeing what I could do to make it faster for as little as possible. Just something to screw around with. We already have a pontoon and a seadoo so this is just a project for fun

Wow I haven’t heard anyone talk about Second Effort for minute. My farther used a lot of their products back in his hydro plane racing days.
Are they even around anymore?

75 has different block and head. Same bore and stroke between the 2.
I would build the 60 as its a better all around motor. are you sure that 75 has trim and not just a tilt?
