Finally had a chance to work on my motor a little. Pulled the head to get a look at no 1 cylinder. I was told the motor was rebuilt before, and this piston isn't oem. I have no idea yet if it was bored before, but it will definitely need to be done now. Motor is a 1986 Merc 150 xr2.

Sorry that turned out to be the problem. It looks like you'll need to go
.015-.020 over current size. But it's hard to tell just by pics and the
aluminum transfer from the piston probably makes it look worse than
it is.
