OK, so I've been looking at Bimini tops from the standard Carver/Westland/Tayler. They all come with Sunbrella Acrylic, which is great. What I didn't like is that they jump from 46" to 54" height. I really wanted something in between. I also didn't like that fact that there was no way to add customized side panels to the top. When I asked the reseller if it was possible, they said I had to go FULL customized. So the price would jump from ~$500 to ~$1,500 just for the bimini top, not the sides.
They make biminis that go from 6' to7' to 8' lengths and allow you to cut down the height from 54' all the way down to 48". They also give you the option to add zippers to all 4 sides of the bimini so that in the future you can add custom sides. Not only that, but they are slightly cheaper than the cheapest Carver/Westland/Tayler resellers I've found online.
This is what I'm getting:
Sunbrella Acrylic
Aluminum tubes w/ stainless fittings
Adjustable support poles (to keep it verticle when the umbrella is not extended)
Boot cover included
Question:
Should I go with a 6' or 7' length? Standard I've seen online is 6', but they offer 7'. What do you guys recommend? Obviously, this is a presonal preference, but I just don't have any experience with bimini's, so I'm asking if anyone who has a 6' wishes it were a little bigger or if 6' is just right.
I have an Angler 18' Dual Console. Here's a dealer pic of my boat: http://www.iboats.com/sites/Anglerbo...l_3-180dc3.jpg
Thanks!
Eric
