I found a 2000 16' Fisher Avenger in excellent condition with a 25 HP Mercury 4 stroke BIgfoot. It looks great, interior and has been really cared for. They replaced Fuel Pump Nov 2021 and Trailer w/spare tire. Includes 6 Gal Fuel Tank, Trolling Motor, 2 Marine Batteries, Ladder, Boat Cover, 3 Buoys, Anchor, 9 Type II PFD Life Jackets (5 Adult, 4 kids), 2 Type IV PFD Flotation Cushions, Horns, Running Lights, Live Well and other accessories. Dewinterized and Ready for the Water. One of the things that really sells this to me is that dry weight of boat is 798 lbs and the outboard is less than 178 lbs. So it really fits my safe towing capacity of my vehicle. Which is 1500 lbs. That's a big deal, I haven't found many lighter dual console boats in great condition. Like I said condition is beautiful and the price is right. Is there anything I need to look out for in this model? What do you guys think about this. Thank you in advance for your advice.

So boat and motor dry is about 1k. What's the trailer weigh? How about adding in all that "stuff" you carry - gas, (2) batteries, anchor(s), etc - all that weighs something....bet you're kissing 1500lbs (if not over) with all that "stuff". You might be wise to run the rig through a scale to see what weight you're truly lugging around.

Some rest stops on the expressway have CAT scales you can use, otherwise got a scrap dealer local to you because they typically have drive on/off scales?

Other than that....if it's truly in good condition sounds like it may be a good purchase.

Yeah, it doesn't have tilt/trim and alternator also. SO I think your right, if I add fish finder, rod holders and have to change outboard. It doesn't work out. It was close but worked. Thanks, first time boat buyer...

Good luck in your search, Fishing. I have had boats all my life ... literally. I married a woman who was not raised around water and boating, so it was new to her and she was not a fan of my low to the water, go fast, bass boat. I told her what I wanted to get and what I wanted to spend. It took 2 years to find the used boat I was looking for at the price I wanted, but I found it. Now she loves boating and encourages me to take her out on the water ... and I get to fish and hunt out of a comfortable boat!

Why did I tell you this? Because sometimes it just takes time to find the "RIGHT" boat for you needs and bank account. Hang in there, keep hunting, and enjoy the journey.

That's a fairly low tow rating. You're basically looking at an aluminum tiller boat with bench seats once you factor in all the extras. Nothing wrong with that per se as some of my fondest memories are on my Uncle's 16' Starcraft with a 9.9HP Evinrude hung on the back. Bench seats and all...

**For giggles, I looked at a Tracker SuperGuide V16-T and it's dry package weight is 1775lbs (estimated).

You'd open up a world of options if you could bump that up a bit...even to 3500lbs.

Take the weight of the boat, add the trailer, motor and all added accessories to find out if it's close to your 1,500 lb safe towing limit.

Thanks! I think your right. I probably have to to 14' boat. I am a senior and really want to go with steering and trim/tilt minimum. Bought 2021 CRV AWD, so kind of stuck with the max tow weight. More practical.

Out of curiosity, what is your vehicle?

I know with lighter boats it may not be an issue but I have had to use the 4X4 on more than a few pull outs.

I bought a 2021 Honda CRV EX AWD in late 2020 as it was best and most practical vehicle for my usually driving. Wanting a boat was a more recent development. I have friend with a Bass Tracker 18' and we go striper fishing on the Napa and Petaluma River and Lake Sonoma. Got me hooked...lol The CRV only has a 1500 max tow capacity and I really don't want to buy additional vehicle or replace CRV. I also had Honda install a hitch, so it's ready. But as a senior, I prefer a steering wheel and dual console if possible, so seems like only older 14' aluminum boat. When I first looked up 16' Fisher Avenger, it was 675lb but I realized that was the tiller model. I am going to have to wait and find right boat.

You need something like a Lund 1400 Fury ... console steering and with boat/motor/trailer according to their website has a towing weight of 991lbs. That gives you 500lbs of gear and gas. Something like that would probably work for you.

That looks right, it's just not many go up for sale. Most buy them for the same reasons and keep them. The Fisher 16 Avenger WT was for sale from original owner. I will keep my eyes open. Thank you!

when I was boat shopping you almost need to walk around with a wad of cash. They sell fast or the decent ones do...
