Looking for help on the best prop for my boat! I have 1994 chaparral 2130! Currently I have a 14 1/2 x 19 but it looks beat! The boat runs slow and hard to plain! Called a marina and told them and they said to lower my pitch to 17! My friend gave me a omc 15x17 prop would this be a a good idea?

yes if you want to improve planning performance yes drop in pitch. How does your current WOT rpm compare to what the engine is rated for?

Is the engine in a good state of tune ?

I’m not sure just ran like crap! Changed it to 15x17 prop from the 14 1/2 x 19 which was pretty used looking! Haven’t got to run it yet! Just want to be safe what to look for range wot when I do run it! Seen a graph for omc 5.0 which would be similar to mine I believe saying 4200-4600 rpm

Yeah those are typical rpm ranges. The older ones seemed to have lower wot than later ones With GT40 heads etc. im not a ford expert but general rule of thumb for stockish V8 s keep it under 5 k and it will live…
