I am a new boat owner and bought a 1993 Bayliner with a 1993 90 HP Force Outboard Engine. It ran fine until last week when a overheat horn sounded that I didn't know what it was, so I continued to run it. The engine eventually shut down. I'm sure the water pump went out, but since I din't know what to do, I am not sure if the engine is repairable or no. The compresson on number 1 is supposed to be 135-145 and number 2 and 3 145-155. The pressure on number 1 is 120, number 2 is 90, and number 3 is 115. A mechanic told me that it may have just damaged the head gaskit and may need some oil sprayed down into the cylinders because they are most likely very dry now. What is the most likely problem. The engine sounds normal as it turns over, but will not crank even after it cooled down.
