I just picked up a Force 9.9 longshaft at an auction for $75.00 brought it home and it fired right up.Now I want to replace impeller and thermostat.I don't know what year it is ser#oe204848.Does this motor have a thermostat? Its not obvious where it's at like on my 15hp Evinrude kicker motor.Will a 15hp carb fit on the 9.9 for increased hp? Thanks for your help

105 degree thermostat is located under square cover held on by one screw by exhaust ports on motor leg. Sounds like a 1997 based on that serial #. I'd get the impeller and t-stat replaced, check and change the gear oil and compression test it before you go looking to boost the output.
