I have a Force 85 on a little 16' Bayliner Cobra. The thing starts easily and idles and runs smooth. When I throttle it up it runs like a clock and gets the boat up to about 45 mph for about 30 to 45 seconds and then just dies. after a few attempts it will restart and idle and run just fine until I throttle it up again and the same thing happens. Gas is good. Vent is open. Fuel pump diaphragm is good. I cleaned the carbs just because. I also checked, cleaned and reseated all easily accessable connectors and contacts. I don't see any evidence of chaffing or grounding wiring. Any suggestions?? I'm lost here.

Your squeezie might be bad. There might be something in the tank that gets sucked up when you accelerate and lift the bow.Your fuel lines collapse because of Ethanol damage(it rots the inner lining on some hoses).
Your pump is bad. J

Internal or external tank? If internal, you may want to try an external tank to see what happens.

Does the ball get soft when the engine quits? If it does, chances are that your checkvalves in the fuel pump are sticking. You can check them easily but taking off the fuel pump cover and pushing the center of the spring loaded vavles gently a few times. If they are sticking, you will see it.
