The pic show the manual Tilt lock.
The lock #45 should be gone if you have T@T
#4 should be used if trailering but you should tie the motor down so it doesn't bounce around.
The loose motor can bounce up and down and the pressure can blow the shuttle valves and the motor can leak down(happened to one of my motors.)
Picture of the transom clamp: The 4 holes: the top 2 is where the 2 prongs of the bracket go, the other single prong goes across to the top hole on the other bracket(hope you understand)

True.....mine was never removed.....shouldn't need it with a good T&T system.....but came in handy to hold the engine fully UP when working on the T&T cylinders.....never had a problem with it on there, and rarely raise the engine that high anyway......

Mine had this style held in by snap rings.....harder to get out. Never did get the check valves apart.....totally destroyed them. Lol. Ended up buying a rebuilt VB from Franz Marine.
What is the tool shown in the FAQ being used to take the valves apart? It looks like a valve spring compressor but much smaller.
It took me a bit to get the valves out of the pump body. it took 150lbs of air a rubber nozzle and blocking off every port. that removed one of the vales and the center piece, the other valve would not move, I had to use a punch with a felt pad and a small rubber mallet to get it out.

1690152551664.pngThey are automotive panel clip pliers.....got it at Harbor Freight. Yeah the check valves held in by clips are hard to get out.....I had to remount the VB and used the hydraulic pressure to blow them out. You get one out, then can push the other one out, like you did. Your check valves look good.....just be careful when trying to take apart......if they get damaged you will be looking for a new VB like I did. (y)

Thanks! I just ordered from amazon. I tried my panel clip remover pry bar and almost damaged the check valve in my vice. it got scratched but I was able to buff it out. I think the panel clip pliers will work better. And I will use my propane torch as well.

That's because they're CHEAP.
I found using a propane torch helps when taking apart.
I got them apart with a torch and tje pliers from amazon. they were strong but I am still looking for the top of one of the valves . When it came off it flew, I know it is on my deck somewhere. LOL kind of like circlips or as I call them ""By jesus" clips. LOL
