Force 35 OB has no mounting Clamps?

Hello Everyone,

So I'm on my merry way swapping out my old Force 50 with a Force 35.

I have one minor concern regarding the mounting bracket for the Force 35. It doesn't have clamps. On my Force 50, it's held on the transom with some bolts and two clamps. The Force 35 does not have the clamps. The bolt holes also doesn't match exactly between a 1991 Force 35 and the 1987 Force 50.

I cut some wood to get them to align and also did a little shimming. The thing that concerns me most is the lack of clamps. I'm just afraid a good bump will be catastrophic.

I've included some pictures of the Force 50 with the clamps and the Force 35 without the clamp. Also pictures of my home made transom reinforcement to get the motor mounted. I still need to make adjustments.

First picture on the left shows the Force 50 with clamps. The other two are pictures of the Force 35 without the camp and one show's my home made shim.

The one set is bolted through the clamp.he bottom hole, above that should be 2 holes for 1/2in bolts?
Will try to get pics tomorrow.
The most important thing is the cavitation plate should be at the bottom of the boat or just below the bottom.

Thank you, Jerry. I will look for your pictures.

In the original setup, the Force 50 is held on with the two clamps and two 1/2 bolts. The Force 35 mount looks to be the same as the 50, minus the clamps. Wish I had taken more pictures of it to post. Maybe tomorrow after work.

Are you possibly saying that I need to drill additional holes on the top?

yes.

Then you can lose that wood shim, as the motor will be held against the outside of the transom by 4 bolts.

And don't drill any holes until you determine the correct mounting height.

I finally got the hardware, drilled, and installed the motor.

I used 1/2 in. X 6 in. with nylon lock nuts. Works pretty well. The drilled holes lined up pretty much exactly where the clamps for the old Force 50 use to clamp.

By the way, in the picture, I used the lower holes of the top two. The bottom ones, I used the original 3/8 in X 2 in with nylon lock nuts.

Thank you, Roscoe and Jerry, for helping me with the mounting questions.

Now I just need to get the wiring correct.
