One of my friends bought a boat a while ago with an engine on claiming to be a 140hp Force 1995 model, I'm no expert in Chrystler or Force but as far as I know this is definately not a 140hp Force 1995, this engine has been resprayed and custom made decals has been put on. It looks like a really old 80's Chrystler probably a 85hp, strange thing I picked up from this engine is that it's got a weird plastic tip at the front of the propeller, why is that? The trim and tilt only works on occasion also, but I know that suzuki trim and tilt fits these engines. Anyone have any suggestions or information on this, highly appreciated ....

Definitely not a 1995 140hp, as they never made one like that.<br />How many cylinders does it have?<br />What color are the ignition coils?<br /><br />tilt problem could be faulty switch, bad relay, bad motor, low on fluid, etc.

I have a 1984 85 hp.<br />Is the cone about 3 inch long and have a screw in the side that holds it onto the prop shaft.<br />I have one on my engine. It is the only one I have seen with it.<br /><br />Good luck.

Hi roscoe, it is a 4 cylinder, with black coils, the problem with the trim and tilt is that is so sealed up that we don't know where to begin with it, that is why we thought we can just replace the whole thing with a suzuki trim and tilt.<br /><br />yes pewterwyz it is 3 inches long and have that screw on the side, do you have a chrystler or force?

Re: Force 140hp?

The 4 cylinders were either 125hp, 1984-1989. <br />Or 120hp, 1990-1999.<br /><br />Black coils were used starting with the 1991D production.<br />Previous models used blue cd powerpacks.<br /><br />My guess is an early 90's 120hp, with an old lower unit from a 1984-1989 85hp or 125hp.<br /><br />TnT isn't very hard to troubleshoot.<br />check for fluid in reservoir.<br />check for power to switch<br />check for relay to "click"<br />Disconnect the wires leading to the trim motor and apply 12v power directly to them with a set of jumper cables. Reverse the cables to go the other direction.<br /><br />Could be a simple $10 fix.

I have an 85 Bayliner with a 125 Force and the yellow tag on the boat says max hp is 140. Why would you put a sticker saying a hp you dont even have?

sticker on boat is what it is rated for not what motor you have on it.
