Try the 15 and see what the rpm's are.
Just don't run it if it revs past the limit?

So, I'm not getting beyond 4500 rpm. I put the 15p on it and it ran slower, and didn't hit higher RPM. I put on the 21P that I have and it ran slower and it lowered my RPM to 4000. I double checked the throttle and found that I was only opening to about 7/8ths throttle at WOT. I adjusted it and didn't get any better RPM out of it. I can only assume that my timing might be limiting me from gaining max RPM? Almost seems like it's got a governor limiting it.

To add insult to injury, as I was launching the boat today, it popped the brake line on the truck right below the braided section on the left front brake ( I already replaced the line going to the right front. This was while launching the boat, so you can imagine the dread that washed over me as the boat kept going into the lake with the boat. Fortunately the rear brakes held on enough and I could get it into gear. Had a buddy pull the boat back and crimped off the line to limp the truck home. Sigh. I did have the boat out all day yesterday though without any hiccups. She ran great. We had to leave the lake because the poles in our hands started giving us small shocks, so we figured that we didn't want to become a path for lightning and called it a day.

Yeah, it's designed for the Force motor. I made sure when I bought it that I got the right one.

What's a tiny tach? I guess I don't understand. I had no tachometer in the boat, wanted to get one so I could see if I was producing proper RPM. Discovered that Force is an odd beast for the tach and got this one.

A tiny tach is a diagnostic tool.
About 2"x3"x1/2"
Has a lead you wrap around the plug wire.
Start the motor and the TT shows the rpms.

They make a bunch of different models, they don't all fit outboards.

Ah, I see. I suppose that would be useful if you have multiple motors to work on and each one doesn't have a tach mounted for it on the dash....

It's handy to have if your working on a system and need to know if the
tach is right.
It saves me from climbing in the boat and looking at the tach.

That's the one I bought, but have not tried it yet on the motor. I'm a little skeptical/concern about the accuracy because the amount of wraps around the plug-wire determines the RPM reading??

I do not believe the NUMBER of wraps determines the reading on this tachometer.-----Interference from other plug wires might change the accuracy.

It clearly states this in the instructions; that if the RPM-reading is too low to increase the loops by one and if too high decrease the loop by one.

But again...I have not tried it yet.

Sorry---I do not have manual for a tiny tach.----Not sure I would want one where you can not trust it from one day to the next.

I have tried on my Lawnmower and it's reading 2230 RPM's (no idea if it is running at that. lol)

I'm planing to use my Timing-light in combination with the TT (idle in gear to see if the readings are the same) if there are or not and then maybe do what the instructions suggest about the amount of loops around the Spark plug wire.

I have faith in this little thing (maybe because I bought it) I'll see and report findings:director:
