Re: Force 125 leaks down

go ahead and tinker. If you don't do anything that bends, cracks, or scars the aluminum parts then you won't do any damage. Just take it apart it in something like a cat litter tray so that nothing bounces off and leaves you wondering what it was. and try to take pieces apart as slow as you can so that you'll get a good look before anything pops out. There are five or six main variations and chances are not good that yours will exactly match whatever photos you may find online.

oh, if you have retaining rings be careful not to damage them. They are a buck each even at *********. You probably don't need $98 worth of extra SS retaining clips. They are perfectly reusable if you take care not to damage or lose them. people run into trouble more from not cleaning out the groove than from having a bad retaining clip.

so anyway - tinker all you want. as long as you don't damage the aluminum then it's fixable.

RRIT, how can i get my force 125 tilt valve body to you to rebuild or do you have any for sale? thanks, Walter

Re: Force 125 leaks down

I have been off since thanksgiving. I more or less flipped xmas vacation to start of month for family scheduling. I'm back now and hope you haven't spent too much time waiting for answers.
I try to keep an active listing on ebay for a mail-in rebuild service. It's a flat rate thing that includes everything based on an overall average for freshwater boats. The valve bodies have surprisingly little variation in time or material over a wide range of years and conditions. I'm not sure if anybody else is rebuilding them. Years ago there was also a guy in Tampa.

If you can get the API product then it is well built enough to stand up to any engine. Somebody above listed them and they may be here on iboats. You'll know if it's one of the good ones by looking at the plugs. Aftermarket with hex fitting on a threaded check valve = not good. Retaining clips holding in a recessed check valve = good or better than OEM.

At any rate, check iboats to see if anybody has a good price on the new with clips. If you need a rebuild then search ebay for a force valve body service. That will be me. Takes about 10 days if you use priority mail.
