Ok a little background

91 Maxum 2100 l drive with a Force 120 in it. Engine lost power. head was pulled to find hole in piston at edge of cylinder. cylinders are rusted and the top cylinder is scored from the hole.

I have access to 3 outboards to use the power heads from. will any of these work in the boat? the engines are as follow

1988 Force 125

dont remember the year Force 150

1995 Force 120

If these powerheads wont work, what year powerheads from the above motors will work

any and all help is greatly appreciated guys

Thanks in advance

You have to look at the bottom of the crankshaft and count the splines on the crank where the drive-shaft is inserted into the crank on your motor. The L-drive motors sometimes used a 13 spline crankshaft. Most of the non L-Drive motors used 15 spline cranks. Other than that, everything else is basically interchangeable.

so what you are saying is if my motor has 15 spline when i pull it i can use any of the motors i mentioned and if it has 13 spline i need to rebuild my engine?
