hello ! my 3.0 GS PNCA ( year 1996) has a pipe which runs from the fuel pump to the carburator ( and connects to a nipple under the flame arrestor on the back) . it looks like a suction hose .

i saw now that the pipe was broken so replaced it. before that you had to pump with the throttle when the engine was cold, but started instantly war- now it starts cold better - BUT it seems to have a poor idle and you have to advance the throttle to keep it alive when previously it ran smooth !

i have to say that the smooth running was on muffs yesterday with torn pipe and today, with the new pipe i put the back of the boat in the water on a slip to test it.

please excuse my ignorance but my main experience is on outboards not I/O - may the poor idle come from a very deep sitting back when you just put the back of the boat in the water ? i want to replace antifouling and gearing oil so did not put it fully in the water and stopped the testing since i was not sure if the low sitting back will not introduce to flood the engine via the exhaust. ( but i may be wrong here)

finally... does anybody have a trick how to unscrew the drain plug on a sx drive ? mine is such tight i simply cannot unscrew it- tend more to destroy the drain plug !

thanks for any help !!!

Sounds like you are referring to the clear hose that goes from the fuel pump to the carb. It's for safety in case the fuel pump fails. The fuel goes to the carb, not into the bilge.

yes- i exactly mean this clear hose ! so it has not any function as long the pump is ok ? does the carb not suck false air when the hose is missing and the nipple on the carb so "open" ?

when it has not any function at all the poor idling with the back of the boat in the water and the fine idling on muffs cannot have anything in common with the replacement of this hose.

thanks don !
