The only news I heard on Fox this morning was the President announced today that days after 911, Al Quiada had planned a second wave of attacks to hit the tallest building in L.A.

No sure how they are just now coming up with this information. Somebody must be singing like a canary.

Agree LF, seems strange that they decide to release the news now. The BBc have given a few more details and it certainly sounds like a mjor success for the Americans.

Certainly scary to think what might have happened if the bad guys had succeeded :(

Perhaps it resulted from Wiretaps that the left wingers are so much against.

Yep Kwas, I guess you could be right: the BBC are now sliding backwards with this story (they have added the phrase "Mr Bush has mentioned this incident before")..............a classic case of "breaking news" suddenly becoming yesterday's news ;)

Apparently the President was trying to rally support for his war on terror against a backdrop of unrest about, amongst other things, "domestic surveillance".

No Way! They're making this up just like WMD's.
We all know that our Government hasn't done a thing to prevent another terrorist strike, they just have'nt carried it out yet. Osama just said so.

I guess the "underwear" on the head-"OH the HORROR", was too much for them! ;) :D

Tap away, if it foils this kind of activity.

Post 9/11 is a DIFFERENT world.

SBN,

Thanks.

To a point. It's a slippery slope.

Nevermind my personal issues with the IRS.

In a nutshell, I get clobbered for OVERPAYING.

SBN,

Don't drink anymore. Long time now. Think again.

I edited my last post. The details will bore.

Thanks for the support, this issue is pure BS, (the IRS case anyway) but I'm taking it seriously. This could ruin my family.

But,we're hijacking the thread.

Thanks again, long time iboats friend.

Ah yes, the true liberal party line. Government knows best, let them do what they want. Sickening to hear from a supposed American.

SwampNut, you don't know me, but let me put you at ease, I am all American and I do have a first hand experience with terriosts so if it takes wire taps to stop them, then you should be for it if you are an American.

I am all American, but originally born in Cuba, so I have first hand experience with the loss of liberties. If the cost of liberty is the occasional threat of harm, then you should be for liberty if you are an American.

So what else is new.Karl Rove stated it clearly a few days ago.The republican party is heavily counting on spreading the fear factor in the warming up months of the next elections for congress. They did this before and they are at it again. The variation is that this time it was triggered by leaking to the BBC which is an institution that demands respect and credibility.
It seems to me that there are a few republican congress persons who might be in big trouble this time around,so they pulled the plugs early.
Before too long, the level of terror alert will go up a few colors.A bit of fear and a great republican savior might just win another election.

Re: Foiled Hijack: Bush makes announcement?

It wasn't a leak. It was in a speech that the pres gave to a National Guard convention.

And what a shock! When the pres gets into political trouble, get the fear going!

And which are the "lefties" that are against wiretapping terrorists? I don't know of a single one. There are many that are against warrantless taps, and taps without some court oversight, but no one is against them per se. Many repubs agree with this--those brave enough to question Karl Rove, at least.

But there is a huge difference.

We all know in our recent history how taps were illegally used against political opponents. Nothing has changed in politics, except it has gotten more mean spirited, with more of a "win at any cost" mentality. With these circumstances, I think a little check on power is indeed warranted.
