I need to replace the foam in the floor of my boat, the original foam is 1 3/4 and the height of the ribs is 1 3/4 thick.

I want to use the pink or blue foam board from lowes, but they only carry 1 1/2 or 2 inches.

I am putting the factory aluminum floor back down.

My idea is to use 1 1/2 foam board and then on top of this use a 1/4 piece of plywood covered with spar urethane. Would this work?

I never want to take this floor up again as its about 200 rivets to do it.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Dow board is available in 1/2", 3/4" and 1", 1 1/2". You can also get "fanfold" foam insulation that is 1/4" thick. To get to 1 3/4", purchase 1" and 3/4" or 1 1/2" and 1/4" and laminate together with caulk . Be certain you buy only the caulk that specifically says it is safe for use with foam as regular caulking will eat foam.

When confronted with a similar situation I bought a combination that added up to the value I wanted and stacked them; actually I packed them on edge but the principal is the same.
