So I'm a newbie on this website, but thought I'd reach out for some help.
Background:
I have a 2004 Mercury 90HP 2-Stroke (90ELPTO), and noticed I had some issues running. At idle and low speed, everything ran fine, but when I sped up, I noticed it took me longer to get on plane and couldn't reach my regular top speed. On top of that, every 10s or so my engine would stall out, but manage to keep going after it "kicked". I figured it was a fuel issue, but when investigating I noticed red shavings when I opened the cowling.
I'm not much of a gearhead, so most of my findings were based on research on Google & Youtube.
My Diagnosis:
Anyways, I did some investigating and noticed the magnets on my flywheel where breaking (attached picture). The broken pieces started to shred some of the stator's outer insulation. I also noticed that a piece seems broken from the trigger (probably as a result of shreds of magnet being thrown).
Solutions?
I know this is a lot, but if anyone on here can help I would greatly appreciate it. It's fun learning more about my outboard, but not fun when it cost money, AND I'm supposed to have an out-of-state fishing trip this weekend with my boat!!

Solutions?
- Buy a new flywheel since it seems you can't replace magnets in the flywheel on Mercurys
- Do I need to replace the stator? I'm not sure how critical this insulation is on the stator, and I don't want to harm the outboard further if it should be replaced.
- Do I need to replace the trigger based on this broken piece?
- Is there any tuning that I would need to do if I replace these pieces (if so I may just bring it to the shop).
- Could there be damage elsewhere as a result of this that I should be looking into?
