I'm having trouble taking the flywheel off my 1987 Evinrude 15hp. Does anyone know the size and thread pitch of the bolts (3) for the puller? thanks ahead of time for your answer!

They are 1/4-20.----Flywheel hubs are stretched over the crankshaft taper.----They do not come off easily.----The right technique must be used.

Try 1/4-20.-------That has been standard thread on small OMC motors for about 50 years or so.-----Perhaps someone molested these holes ?

My 1986 Johnson 150 HP uses 5/16-24. I just purchased a few grade eights 2 inches long. I am thinking yours are the same given the puller was a single OMC part number used across all engine sizes.

????-----The smaller motors used 1/4-20 all day long !!----The universal OMC puller has different bolts for different motors and motor parts.----Have 3 of those pullers here.

Thanks racerone, I’m looking to pull flywheels off my mother’s 1964 3 hp Evinrude Yachtwin and my 1977 2 hp Johnson. Based on your answer, I feel confident getting one with a 1/4-20 thread. Thanks
