Re: Fluorocarbon

Flouro will hold a good knot when wetting the knot before cinching it. Vanish sucks... Transition, I've used it and haven't had problems there but they come from the same manufacturer and I just don't see a need to mix & match. I stick with what works for me.

Re: Fluorocarbon

I used to bother with UNI to UNI for attaching fluro leader to my braid. Then I saw this short video on the seaguar knot.

http://www.charkbait.com/article/Palomar_Seaguar_knots.htm

The knot ties up a lot more compact than it looks in the video. I have had no problems with it going through the guides. It is easy and strong as any knot I ever used to tie on leader.

If your fishing soft plastics, or jigs for bass there is no need to spool up the whole reel with fluro. You will do way better with some braid and fluro leader

Re: Fluorocarbon

Thats a pretty easy knot to tie right there,im going to have to try that one day.but im a pretty firm believer in the less weak points you have the better off you are,i got 4 rods spooled with floro and the rest with braid.on all my rods i back the spools with mono then put the line i want on the last75 to100 yrds.and this method works well with me.but the secret here is to use whats you cofidence in i think im going back to the p-line.

I was just looking at that on their web site but I hadn't priced any out yet. How much do you get for $30?

Go to bass pro shop and look up p-line halo 4/8lb. 18 bucks for 200yds. 10/15lbs.20 bucks or 17/20lb. 25 bucks 200yds. Think I am going to try the 8# and 15# hopefully get to try out on stripers in the next week if I do not have to work over the holidays.

Re: Fluorocarbon

I broke off a spinner at the knot today with the 7lb fluoro. It broke a little easier than I expected it to. I had it tied on with a Trilene knot, I'm going to start tying bait and hooks on with Palomar knots and see if it makes a difference. Then I landed a 2lb Rainbow with the next spinner I tied on. Worked out for the best anway.

Re: Fluorocarbon

seagar is the best flourocarben out there invited the stuff. there are 9 grades of flourocarbon 9 is made for comercial fishing. most of the other big name companys that jumped on the florocarbon ban wagon make a 1 or 2 grade, ive tried them all just about and have found seagar to be the best.

Re: Fluorocarbon

I placed my order for three spools of the P-Line Halo last week. I'll know in about eight weeks if I made the right choice. First tournament is March 31.

Re: Fluorocarbon

i ordered both the new halo and evolution line, but right now we are in a blizzard/heavy snow/drifting snow warning and the wind chill is 10 below so i dont think ill be able to try it anytime soon. But the good news is that pline has a $6 rebate on every spool you buy.d:)

Personally, I've been using Flouro leaders ahead of either Fireline or Power-Pro for a while now, especially for Musky and Northerns.

One must remember to check your line and retie .. its a habit that will save you time and heart ache in the future no matter what fish you're after.
