I have a 21' sportcraft cuddy with a 6 cylinder mercruiser and a 10 hp honda kicker hanging off the back. Because of all the weight, the back of the boat sits too low in the water, leading to issues with low water levels and other problems. Can I beef up the flotation in the back or try something else?

Eliminating the honda is not an option.

Thanks

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.. Not sure what yer askin',..??

The only way to increase flotation is to displace more water....
Addin' more foam, just increases the weight...

Thanks, Bond-o. I found an old thread about problems with water saturated flotation in older boats (mine's a 1986). If that's the case, what would you suggest by way of replacement?

Welcome to the iBoats Dry Dock!
The only way to take care of Saturated Foam is to remove it. The only way to remove it is to remove the Sole/Deck/Floor and dig out the wet foam. (Nope, it can't be dried out) You can/should replace it with the new improved PourIn 2# Expandable foam. If the foam was saturated it could have added up to 500 additional lbs of weight to your boat. Removing this much weight should greatly help in the way it sits in the water. Post up some pics and let us have a look at what you're working on.

You might try weighing the boat. Subtract trailer, motor and misc. (gas, equipment...) Compare that number to what the Dry boat weight is supposed to be. Might let you know if you're carrying around some extra water weight.
