I am in the process of doing a new floor in a ss16 and was curious what drill bit people use or what method works best for countersinking the rivet heads in the plywood?

A forstner bit (diameter depending on the rivet flange) works great for this...start with a small pilot hole, do your recess and then open up the pilot for the rivet.

Thank you. Did you fill over the rivet head with any filler then such as marinetex or jbweld? I am going to varnish my floor so I won’t have epoxy to use for a filler

Here's something I whipped up. 5/8" spade bit with a 3/16" drill shank welded in the center. Please ignore the crap weld🤣...it works. The holes are pre drilled to 3/16".
I mixed g flex epoxy in small batches to fill the holes flush.

+1 for forstner bit

I used epoxy so was able to back fill with it. That being said that is a lot of JB weld. Might be able to use Tightbond III mixed with Sawdust to create a filler instead.

Epoxy/cabosil filler. With the system that I use, the entire rivet is encapsulated in epoxy.

That’s a great idea!
