B will be replacing the floor in my Sylvan Super Sportster this winter! While at Home Depot, I noticed 2 x 4 and 4x8 sheets of 1/2” white PVC. Any thoughts on using pvc as a new boat floor? Too slippery? Maybe place carpeting over it! If so what glue? All ideas, both yeah or nay, are welcome!

PVC has no structural properties and nothing sticks to it

I thought I read recently that solid PVC was prone to substantial changes in dimensions with temperatures. In fact, folks who installed solid PVC trim on their houses were having all sorts of problems because the PVC would swell and shrink in BOTH length and width as it cycled through hot and cold temps. I don't think I'd want that in my boat, not to mention the lack of structural strength that @Scott Danforth mentions above.

You can bend it 50 ways from Sunday. I used 1x2 PVC trim in my bathroom and it conformed wonderfully to my imperfect walls and ceiling.

Only benefit over wood is that it won't rot. Other than that...did I mention its super bendy??
